You may have noticed that your phone charges slower using a laptop or computer through USB than a mains adapter plug. This is because the USB port on the computer can't provide enough amps to allow a quickest charge. Two top tips are to use the USB 3.0 on the back of the computer and a shorter cable. They are directly fitted onto the motherboard and are the fastest if compared against the ones on the front side.
1) Connect a USB cable to the back of the computer, preferable into a newer 3.0 port if you have one.
2) Plug the other end into your smartphone.
3) Place the phone into offline mode. This will make the phone charge faster through USB because it won't be connected to the phone tower therefore taking far more less power.
