If you notice that your PS2 slimline is scratching game discs and is making circles on them, in fact its the ribbon connected to the laser lens that is the cause to the problem. The edge of it sticks out on some particular models and when the disc is spinning really fast it touches it causing circular visible scratches to appear. If you want to fix this problem today, all you will need is some double sided sticky pads.
This is how to stop ps2 slim scratching discs:
1) Power off the PS2 console.
2) Press the eject button on the front to pop open the flap. Remove any game disc if inserted.
3) Make two cushion strips of double sided sticky pads and stick them together.
4) Then fit them directly behind the laser were you can see the brown color ribbon cable going into it. This will help it form a more curved shape rather then sticking out.
