The PS4 controller contains an built in speaker in the middle for producing sound effects that are embedded into games such as Grand Theft Auto 5 or Fifa 15. You may prefer to turn off the PS4 controller speaker and perhaps mute it temporarily for your own reasons. This is easily possibly with making an adjustment to one of the audio settings in the menu.
1) Push down the 'PS' logo button.
2) Then find 'Adjust Device/Controller' option.
3) Use the directional buttons to adjust and lower the volume to the bottom.
