How To Replace PS2 Fuse

A fuse is placed inside the mains plug on the PS2 to protect any occurring short circuits from damaging the hardware components inside the console. This can happen especially during thunder lighting storms when bad weather is taking place. If your PS2 is not powering on, you perhaps might consider changing the fuse first before considering any other problems it might possibly be. All you need is a flat head screwdriver. Today you will learn how to do this as well as the fuse locations.

1) Unplug the PS2 from the mains wall socket and switch it off.

2) Disconnect the power cord from the back of the unit.

3) Get a flat head screwdriver and remove the holder in middle of the plug.

4) Remove the blown fuse and with replace it with a new one.

If that doesn't work, there is also a fuse internally inside the actual console. Here are the instructions if you want to attempt on repairing that.

1) Remove all rubber tabs underneath.

2) Get a Philips head and unscrew all screws.

3) Lift off the top cover placing it to the right. Please be careful that you don't pull the silver power/reset ribbon cable as it can come off and disconnect.

4) Remove the controller/ memory card ports unit and the screw that holds the cooling fan in place.

5) The bottom half with dissemble from the rest.

6) On the right there will be a power supply board. It will be held in by four screws.

7) You will now be able to remove the PSU. You will see the fuse directly placed into a metal holder. Remove it and replace it will a new fuse.
