How To Fix PS2 Multitap Accesory Not Working

You can connect a PS2 multitap adapter to your PS2 console to increase the amount of controllers you can connect to it. From the factory, the console itself has only two, which is perfect for most type of racing or fighting games that are out there. If you are having your friends over to your house, you are playing fifa or pro evolution soccer, then you probably want to connect it. If you are having problems getting your PS2 multitap to work try these considered solutions.

1) Are you using the correct multitap for your type of PlayStation 2 console. There are separate ones for both the fat and slim models. You can't use an slim multitap on a fat console.

2) Is the game compatible with the multitap. This is important to check. You will find out right away on the back of the game cover because it may only allow 2 controllers and not 4.

3) Power off your console. Hold down the power/reset button so that it goes red. Then unplug from mains for 10 minutes and try again. This will hard reset the console, as it will discharge the capacitors inside and temporarily disconnect the power.

4) Make sure you plug it into controller port 1 not 2. This is a common mistake that people make, the first plug is the master one that controls the chip inside the accessory.

5) Remove the plug and check the pins. Sometimes they can be bent. If they are, then attempt to  realign them straight with a flat head screwdriver. Also blow directly onto it and the port on the console because dust and dirt can cause problems with the connection.
